COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented global health and economic crisis. The impact has disrupted our work and made life much faster and more unpredictable than we ever imagined.
IEA's analysis of daily data through mid-April, published in our Global Energy Review 2020, shows that countries in full lockdown are experiencing an average 25% decline in energy demand per week and countries in partial lockdown have an average 18% decline. The dramatic fall of oil consumption has led to a drastic drop overall in crude oil prices and may have serious long-term consequences for all as we transition to sustainable energy on a global basis.
